Fighting for University Students - Sign my Petition here

This week the Abbott Government introduced into the Parliament its law to deregulate university fees.

The new law will:

• increase the cost of university fees. Universities Australia estimates the cost of an engineering degree will rise to between $98,952 - $113,169.

• cut $1.9 billion from the Commonwealth Grant Scheme funding university course delivery

• increase student debt- currently HECS / HELP debts are indexed to the CPI. This will increase to the government bond rate and apply retrospectively.

The proposed law also establishes new Commonwealth Scholarships but the scholarships will be funded through the increase in university fees!

I am opposed to this reform.

I have established this petition against the Abbott Governments proposals which I intend to present in the Parliament on behalf of our community.
