Keep Maroubra Medicare and Centrelink open!

The Liberals have a secret plan to close Maroubra’s Medicare and Centrelink service centre, but they’re waiting until after the Federal election to tell our community.

This reckless decision has already been made without any consultation and will severely impact residents in Maroubra and surrounding suburbs.

The closure will force locals to travel into the City or to Bondi Junction to access vital face-to-face services for Medicare, the age pension, job seeker support, carer’s allowance and family tax benefits.

There’s been no consideration given to our elderly residents and those with mobility restrictions. Saying ‘well just go online or go to another service’ is not a fair or realistic option for many in our community.

I’m opposed to the closure of Maroubra’s Medicare and Centrelink service centre and I’ll fight to keep it open.

The Liberals just don't get it. They relocated the Medicare office from Eastgardens and now they want to make it even harder for our community to access and manage their Medicare and Centrelink support services.

I encourage locals to sign this petition and tell the Liberals that the closure of Maroubra’s Medicare and Centrelink service centre isn’t acceptable.
