Better in than out of the new Asian Bank
It appears the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has become a dilemma for the Abbott Government.
The Inaugural Pierre Roussel Memorial Lecture

I acknowledge the Bidjigal people, the traditional owners of this land and I pay my respects to their elders both past and present. I also acknowledge the Aboriginal name for this land Curiwwal and waters of Kamay.
I sincerely thank and pay tribute to the board and members of the Friends of Laperouse museum for the passion and commitment you have to preserving the Laperouse legacy and importantly educating our community and wider Australia of the French heritage in this area.
Sign the Petition: Renewable Energy Target
I am fighting to save the Renewable Energy Target. Will you join me?

The Abbott Government recently conducted a review of Australia's Renewable Energy Target (RET).
The RET is designed to ensure that 20 per cent of Australia's electricity comes from renewable sources by 2020.
The Review recommends either closing the RET to new entrants or reducing the target rate of renewable energy. Both options will discourage greater investment in renewable energy in Australia.
We call on the Abbott Government to maintain support for greater investment in renewable energy in Australia by rejecting the recommendations of the RET Review and maintaining Australia's commitment to 20% renewable energy by 2020.
Speech to Parliament: Fighting to Save the RET
On behalf of my community I present a petition signed by 313 members of the community calling on the Abbott government not to abandon the renewable energy target and to continue to ensure that Australia promotes investment in renewable energy. CLICK HERE to sign the Save the RET Petition
Fighting for University Students - Sign my Petition here

This week the Abbott Government introduced into the Parliament its law to deregulate university fees.
The new law will:
• increase the cost of university fees. Universities Australia estimates the cost of an engineering degree will rise to between $98,952 - $113,169.
• cut $1.9 billion from the Commonwealth Grant Scheme funding university course delivery
• increase student debt- currently HECS / HELP debts are indexed to the CPI. This will increase to the government bond rate and apply retrospectively.
The proposed law also establishes new Commonwealth Scholarships but the scholarships will be funded through the increase in university fees!
I am opposed to this reform.
I have established this petition against the Abbott Governments proposals which I intend to present in the Parliament on behalf of our community.
Why Tony Abbott is wrong on Indigenous settlement
On 3 July our Prime Minister stated:
"I guess our country owes its existence to a form of foreign investment by the British Government in the then unsettled or scarcely settled great south land."
Kingsford Smith voices anger over GP Tax
Sydney has voiced its anger over the Federal Government’s GP Tax as pressure continues to build on Tony Abbott to scrap the unpopular measure.
Budget Reply Speech
Last week I met a pensioner from Pagewood in my electorate.
On the doorstep of his modest home on a busy main road I listened intently trying to block out the incessant noise of trucks, buses and cars whizzing by.
Roadmap for Republicans
Many times over the last decade I have heard people say “I’m a republican but…”.
Usually followed by excuses why not to fight for our own Head of State, this phrase has become the calling card of the closet republican.
Speech to Parliament: Greek Independence Day
On Sunday (23 March), I had the pleasure of attending the Greek Independence Day commemoration at the Cenotaph in Sydney to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Greek War of Independence.
